See what our participants said about Fitpacking

This trip was the most difficult and challenging thing I have ever done in my life … and it was by far, hands down, absolutely, positively the most fun I have ever had in my life.

Cheryl E

Each Fitpacking trip I have done has been an awesome experience. But even better are the friends I've made while sweating miles with people I've never met. For this out-of-shape, 40 something guy (pushing 50), I am hooked. [The Guides] do a great job and I am already thinking about my next adventure.

Roger J

Having completed two Fitpacking trips, I am pleased to report that consistent weight the first trip the second was well-staffed and the other hikers were extremely collegial. The difficulty level was manageable by all, and the itinerary was well thought out. Love the hikes.

George M

Fitpacking helped me feel ten years younger and stronger!

Marjie F

I love the experience of 'earning' a view. Hiking for miles to get to a place very few people will ever see is something I treasure.

John M

Fitpacking sets a challenging goal, and then does everything possible to help you achieve it. This was my first backpacking experience, and each day I would think 'This is really busting my butt', only to end each night with the satisfaction that I had done what I had set out to do. And that was possible only because of the leadership, planning, and guidance that Fitpacking provides.

Steve S

If you are considering booking a trip with Fitpacking, do it. Fitpacking offers an opportunity to learn more about the world we live in, disconnect and to challenge yourself. You will not regret it.

Juliet A

I had fun. Best of all, the Gila Wilderness is a place I would never have considered going on my own. Now I have walked in the footsteps of Geronimo.

George M

There were significant spiritual rewards as well: the contemplation of remoteness, timelessness, natural beauty, fragility and self-sufficiency.

Marc D

After every trip (and countless blisters) I'm coming back for more.

Kasia B

Once again, Fitpacking has assembled a great group of participants and excellent guides, which made for a wonderful and challenging week of hiking.

Roberta S

[This was] my first trip and I look forward to another one! A great way to get outdoors, challenge yourself without anyone putting pressure on you, while experiencing beautiful scenery and meeting friendly people with similar reasons for being there.

Kasia B

I had great experience being a first timer and I would definitely do more trips with Fitpacking.

SANJEEV G

Fitpacking is by far the best guide service I have ever used. The guides are excellent and knowledgeable. If I were to go with any guide service again it would be with Fitpacking.

This was by far the best trip I have ever been on in my whole life ... This adventure trip gave me an opportunity to reflect on my life and my normal day's grind and during that process I re-discovered my own strengths, weaknesses, successes and struggles.

Tara Y

My experience pushed me out of my perceived comfort zone and physical limitations. I would definitely do it again!

Valerie P

I schedule the rest of my vacation time AFTER I have booked my Fitpacking trips for the year. I only wish I would have found Fitpacking years ago.

Jim G

Fitpacking was a great way to experience backpacking for the first time or as a return from a hiatus. The guides were concerned with making sure we had a great time. If you are thinking about booking with them stop thinking and just do it. A great time awaits and Fitpacking will take care of your concerns and needs to the highest level of satisfaction.

Michael W

Mt. Rainier and the diversity of terrain we covered gave this trip a magical feel. This feeling, along with the relationship developed among [the group] made for a rewarding and memorable experience.

George W

Fourth Fitpacking trip in 13 months! I guess you can say that I've caught the bug.

I could not have choosen a better way to spend quality time with my son. The experience was life changing. Go Fitpacking!!!.

Jim H

My third trip with Fitpacking was just as memorable as the first two. I will be back for another trip!

Mary K

My 2nd trip with Fitpacking was just as memorable as the first. I truly feel 'de-stressed'. Although I feel confident with the skills I have learned to do a solo trip, I think I would really miss the cameraderie of the people that Fitpacking attracts. I can hardly wait to sign up for another trip!

This is my 5th Fitpacking trip, yes there were days that were hard, yet meeting great people and seeing amazing sights makes it worth it. I look forward to doing another trip, hopefully with [names of guides]. They are inspirational guides.

Guido G

[The Guides] were great. Thorough, knowledgable, accomodating, and I definitely got my money's worth. Almost 60 miles in 7 days with awesome views and a thorough workout, plus plenty of good food to eat.

Ryon G

Regarding the trip I give it a 10 out of 10 in all respects!!

I've been hiking with Fitpacking for almost 5 years, did more than 10 trips, and I'm still absolutely in love with the service, the owner, and the guides. Apparently they know what they are doing…

My wife and I had the most amazing experience of our lives, aside from the births of our three children and one grandchild, in the Superstition Wilderness with [guides]. They were an awesome team, and we had a blast. It was grueling at times, but their presence made all the difference in the world. And we REALLY enjoyed the hot camp food for breakfast and lunch every day!

Rodney L

Fitpacking is a rare find in a world of vacation travel awash with gimmicky bonuses and pampering treats. This is back to basics where you check out of everyday living and check in to what nature has to offer.

Jim B

Lots of pleasure and very little pain

Fitpacking is helping me maintain muscle mass and be able to continue to do the things I enjoy. Fitpacking enables me to go places and see things that would be difficult if not impossible otherwise, by providing a fun and organized group experience. It's inspiring to hike with new friends who are challenging themselves as well.

Marjie F

I participated in the Redwoods trip originally to accede to my husband's wish for me to accompany him. I did not think backcountry backpacking would be for me. I realized early on the first day that I was WRONG. It turned out that the previously dreaded accommodations did not bother me, and hiking in such beautiful and unforgettable locations was an opportunity I was privileged to have.

Mary-Louise P

I'd originally signed up to please my wife, who'd asked me to accompany her, and was at first a bit skeptical. By the end of the week, however, I was really happy to have been along and would do it again in a minute.

Wilfred K

Fitpacking totally got me hooked on hiking. Ever since I have been home all I keep thinking about is wishing I was back on the trail. You can't find a better deal than this.

Jacqueline S

I am sure I will enjoy my next Fitpacking trip even more than I did the first!

Anne M

I really cannot express how impressed I was of [the Guides]. They are very impressive, top notch, cream of the crop people. Would love to have more upbeat positive people like that in my life.

Fitpacking is a great and fun way to increase your fitness level beyond your expectations. What a great way to meet people and enjoy the outdoors

Michele C

I lost 22lbs in a week, I completed one of the most dangerous hikes in the USA, I had a great time, I forgot about work and proved to myself it is never to late to get started. I so much look forward to my next trip.

Dave K

Absolutely great experience. Very knowledgeable guides who expertly led the group. Great fellow campers! Stress-less easy and fun experience.

I forgot how much I loved being in the mountains. Weight loss, although it did happen, felt secondary.

Alexandra A

I'm on my way to the size 6 - Fitpacking is a huge part of that journey - I couldn't do it without you! You made me stronger physically and mentally - Thank you!

Kasia B

Exploring the majestic wilderness while losing weight, forming friendships, and learning survival skills is part of the experience, but self-discovery, personal introspecti increased self-esteem and just plain old self satisfaction are added benefits.

Paula S

I chose this trip over going to the Biggest Loser campus for a couple of reasons, the price was right and I wanted to be around like minded, happy people that love the outdoors. This was a fantastic vacation and can't wait to go on the next trip!

Shelly W

[The guides] were extremely helpful, knowlegdeable, and helped me realize that I can do more than I ever thought I could. I left tired, but energized at the same time. I wanted to go out and hike again as soon as I got back home!

Felicia C

I had some back issues prior to the trip, but while on the trip and since, none. Nada. My back never felt better. Also, met a wonderfully diverse group of people which was quite unexpected.

Douglas J

I love this organization. I love backpacking and hiking, but don't know enough about planning food, or feel safe enough to do it on my own. This allows me the perfect balance of a full experience and very little planning!

Elisa W

Fitpacking gave me a great incentive to lose weight and get in shape before the Mt. Ranier trip. The trip itself was challenging both physically and mentally. The scenery was beautiful. I will always remember sleeping out under the stars.

Paul Y

This was an excellent trip on so many levels. The scenery was magnificent and the company was extraordinary. A complete adventure.

Jim L

I've been on two trips with Fitpacking, and I intend to take them all. It's that good.

Giselle H

This is my 6th year Fitpacking and I am an official member of the 'over the hill club' (well past 50, gray, fat and bald). So now it takes me a little longer to get up and down the mountains, but that just gives me more time to enjoy the views and the experience. The guides are always patient and always first class. I have lost weight and inches on every trip. I have also met lots of great people and made lots of great friends. If you are past your 40's, don't be intimidated. Advil fixes the aches and Fitpacking does wonders for your spirit.

Roger J

Fitpacking offers a true adventure experience, backed up by the support, encouragement and humor of a great set of guides. It's hard to really get back to nature and mentally reset in our hectic world, but Fitpacking delivered. I am already planning my next trip for some time later this year.

Jim B

I enjoyed Isle Royale and how helpful the guides were when I could not finish the hike.

Janette J

Going on a trip with a spouse v. solo had absolutely no impact on the quality of my experience, in case anyone else inquires about the same. I thought it might be very different, but it was not.

Roberta S

. I actually think a valuable service that Fitpacking provides is the opportunity for people with no experience back-packing to go out with people who do have experience and who will be looking out for the inexperienced participant.

Dawn V

I came ... expecting to ... maybe be left in the dust because I'd be too slow; I experienced none of that.

Joi S

It's great on the trail. Your mind clears and you forget about that 'To Do' list that constantly nags at your guilty conscience when you are trying to relax at home!

Kim J

... an awesome experience. I already miss the woods and the peacefulness that comes with it.

My knee became sore/swollen. The guides went out of their way to accomodate my injury, took a different route, and stayed with me til I boarded the Ferry.

Shirley E

Great locations; great hotels; friendly, skilled guides; the price point is on target for a budget friendly vacation. Safe and fun way to build your confidence and backpacking skills.

Michele C

This was a wonderful trip and challenge. I enjoyed it immensely, the guides, the philosophy and the country.

Fitpacking provides a well-organized backpacking guiding service aimed at enjoying destinations while focusing on staying fit with good food and good hydration.

Richard K

I got everything I wanted out of my Fitpacking hike. Weight loss, an experience out of my comfort zone (in a beautiful environment) and a renewed confidence in my own abilities.

Deb M

Our guides were just fantastic. They kept us going, kept our feet going through an onslaught of blisters and just made the trip enjoyable. The food was excellent, accomodating a variety of dietary wants/needs.

The trip was pure joy and relaxation! If you would like to unplug for few days from your everyday life, that's the way to do it. No stress, no clients, no bills to pay, no judgments - just you and nature.

Kasia B

Exceeded expectations. I've never hiked/backpacked/camped before but have always had the desire. I'm so glad I trusted Fitpacking with the most memorable and most challenging experience of my life. Every detail was well planned, the guides had everything under control at all times, and I was able to disconnect and clear my mind so well that I recommend everyone have the same experience at some point in life.

Samantha R

A laid back trip in a nonthreatening environment that still pushes you to perform.

Bruce K

I think it is so cool that Fitpacking attacts a wide range of participants. It doesn't matter if you are a counter person at McDonald's, or an ortho surgeon. No one asks and no one really cares. Everyone is accepted for who they are. It's fun to have a wide range of ages/backgrounds.

Mary K

I would highly recommend the experience for anyone who wants to strengthen mind, body and spirit.

Vicki L

Fitpacking lets me re-connect with nature, make new friends, and get in better shape! Love it!

This is my 4th trip with Fitpacking and it will not be my last, great guides, great locations and get to see the great American outdoors.

Guido G

I am also pleased with the physical improvements to my body. I went down about 1.5 pant sizes and] also grew stronger on the trail.

Roger P

The Sedona Fitpacking experience allowed me to check off one of the items on my bucket list. I enjoyed the hikes and the overall camping experience. I'm looking forward to my next Fitpacking hike.

My third trip with Fitpacking did not disappoint. Once we escaped the sound of gun fire, it was nice and quiet. Another fun trip.

Paul Y

My first backpacking trip ever was a fantastic experience with Fitpacking. The organization and knowledge about life on the trail was excellent. By day 2 it felt as if I've been backpacking and hiking my whole life. The transition was made very easy with the Fitpacking guides' endless patience for answering any and all questions. I would highly recommend Fitpacking to anyone who is considering a first backpacking trip or for an experienced backpacker who enjoys well organized trips.

Paul D

Climbing Mount Washington was physically the most difficult thing I have ever done. The Guides] set the right combination of pushiness and support for me to reach the summit. I would never have been able to achieve it on my own.

Roger P

My second Fitpacking trip was every bit as memorable as my first. Joshua Tree was great fun. I could not have had a better or more adventurous time.

Paul Y

This is a great service to get people (like me) backpacking in nature who may not otherwise have the confidence or skills to do it on their own!

Karen O

I had a great time on the trip and this trip has inspired me to take on much longer and harder trips because I felt like I could do it.

I had a wonderful time on the Redwoods trip. I recommend it highly to anyone who wants to get back into backpacking - as I did, after retiring last year - or to try it. Our guide was fantastic, the country covered beautiful, and I thoroughly enjoyed the company of the other hikers.

Lois T

In reading and planning for the trip, I seem to have skipped over the fact that the meals would be vegetarian. I hadn't gone without meat for more than two days in my entire adult life, but was pleasantly surprised with the culinary adventure.

Dan S

Fitpacking trips are awesome, the food is better than expected, and I've made several friends that I've backpacked and hiked with

Alexander W

I thoroughly enjoyed my first Fitpacking adventure and will be back!

Tammy W

This was an awesome trip! I was challenged, but not pushed beyond my limits. The guides were fantastic! Looking forward to another trip in the future!

Mary K

I want to point out how very pleasant and interesting our fellow campers were. I don't suppose it is always like that, but on the two Fitpacking trips I have taken, the fellow campers were a bonus. Finally, it was wonderful to leave my job and all the associated problems behind. After about half a day on the trail, my job was totally forgotten.

I would book with Fitpacking again and would recommend it to my friends.

Guido G

I signed up to motivate me (a 47 year old, out of shape and burnt out lawyer) to get back in shape and to forget about my headaches. It was the best medicine I have ever taken!

Roger J

I was seeking a change in pace, a healthy experience with the side benefit of weight loss, and to reinstitute a sense of nature into my being. I accomplished all of these goals on the Fitpacking expedition.

Randall F

Fitpacking has changed my life--turned me on to backpacking and hiking. Even a 'bad/hard' day hiking is always better than the best days at the office!

Cheryl E

Fitpacking is a great way to backpack with experienced guides and see beautiful country. It will test your endurance and you will find you are much more capable than you think you are.

I spent a week Fitpacking to jump-start my vacation and my exercising. I ended up meeting many great people and hiking a vertical mile up a mountain with them!

Nathan L

I would recommend Fitpacking for anyone who wants to experience the outdoors, challenge themselves, yet have the rewards of having another cook for you & losing weight/getting fit along the way.

Cindy M

The sense of community, encouragement, compassion, and support that developed is one that is rarely exercised in our daily lives. Perhaps more rewarding than a shift in BMI is the courage, confidence, and strength of character that was developed on the trail.

Shirley C

A great experience--beautiful location, good exercise, fine for first-time camping/backpacking because the guides were so knowledgable and helpful.

Fitpacking provides a unique challenging personal experience that combines personal challenge, group dynamics and personal improvemnt into a vacation experience that will not be forgettable.

That week on the Appalachian Trail will always be on my 'count on one hand' list of best experiences. I learned to slow down and give myself a little slack. The simplicity of the long trudges, as well as the complexity of the climbs fed my soul. I even shed a demon or two along the way. I am more connected to life now because of that hike.

Julia P

This was my first time backpacking and my first time camping without a toilet. I signed up for the Cumberland Island trip as a personal challenge and to kick-start my fitness goals. What a wonderful experience. The guides were very supportive and helpful, and I could not have asked for a better group of fellow participants. I am already trying to decide on my next Fitpacking adventure!

Roberta S

My Fitpacking experience was the greatest. Spending time among the buffalo, elk and prairie dogs was amazing. There's no better feeling than the bond you feel with others who have just shared the experience of walking all day through the wilderness. Hot, tired, exhausted and exhilirated.

John M

This was my first experience ever backpacking It was one of the hardest things I've ever done since we don't have mountains (or even hills) in Florida. [The Guide] was amazing. He could definitely write multiple books about The Smokies. I would do it again and recommend Fitpacking to others.

Tina F

This is my fist backpacking trip and I can tell you that the guides made the trip. They reduced my fears and took such good care of me, that I now love backpacking. If you want to try hiking or backpacking, Fitpacking is an excellent choice.

Ambreen L

I keep getting stronger and leaner by taking a Fitpacking trip every 6 months to a year. This helps me keep working on my fitness goals as a lifestyle now, and has opened up new levels of strength and energy, as well as new fun activities. Marjie aged 56.

Be prepared to gain more than just fitness on your trip. In this world where we are connected 24/7 to information and technology overload, it was just deeply fulfilling and a blessing to laugh and enjoy the fruits of each others' spirits. The hike itself was challenging and offered stunning scenery. It was indescribably wonderful to leave the sounds of alarms, cars, email pings, and demands on time and attention for the sound of the rain on my tent, a babbling creek running right behind my tent, and the leaves rustling in the breeze. To do this under the guidance of two kind, gentle and knowledgeable souls was a gift and a privilege.

Dawn C

I achieved my goal of increasing strength and stamina. I can see my waist line…. The hike was was great, and I feel I was successful.

Theresa D

The Redwoods hike for me (a novice) proved to be a true adventure wherein I dramatically improved my overall stamina and moved towards my weight goal, while experiencing some deeply beautiful places.

Finishing this hiking trip and hearing at least one wolf call were my main goals. Well, I achieved those two and SO much more - moose sightings, loon sightings and calls, osprey, immature Bald Eagle, beaver, multitude of flowering plants (including the beautiful pitcher plant), snowshoe hare, luna moths, all types of butterflies...pretty fantastic! But it really was the wolf howls at 1:00 am that did it for me! Very successful trip - thank you!

Suzanne C

Fitpacking absolutely knows what they are talking about when it comes to being prepared with the right equipment. The guides are obviously knowledgeable and both were pushy at the right times (drink your water) and laid back and understanding at the right time (pushing me through a melt-down and then relaxing and not mentioning it around dinner).

I was surprised just how much fun I had. I thought it would be a higher ratio of misery to fun. Instead, the whole experience was great. I loved the other people, the island was fantastic, and even the heat was bearable. I liked that we had time in camp to swim in the lakes and hang out. I liked the fact that the guides were helpful and supportive.

I recommend Fitpacking to anyone who needs a change of scenery -- especially what they see in the mirror. I felt so much better about myself after 7 days of hiking, and it got me out of the habit of eating after dinner. Now I tell my husband, 'I can't eat any more tonight. The Fitpacking guides made the hike from Monson to Mt. Kathadin into an incredibly memorable experience. If I had hiked by myself, I would have driven myself insane with over-thinking all the little details like "where should I stop for the night?" and "how much water should I carry?" Having experienced guides who could answer these and many other questions allowed me to focus on the natural beauty, the fun of hiking, and the more important questions, like "What kind of bar do I want for a snack?
